An excerpt from Big Magic:

And Here’s what it made me think:
Everyone deserves to do what makes her feel alive.
Whatever you call it, passion, enthusiasm, whatever. Strive to find it. Doing something you love, outside your job and other responsibilities, is the best way to stop seeking happiness from outside yourself, from other people, from social media, from material things.
I read a quote last week, “A person who is okay being alone is a powerful person.”
And I agree.
And I’m not referring to being anti-social, but embracing solitude, and spending time with yourself and creating your art - reading, writing, journaling, painting, drawing, gardening, designing, making YouTube videos or podcasts, making collages - anything that allows you to express yourself.
"Give your mind a job to do," writes Elizabeth Gilbert, "or else it will find a job to do, and you might not like the job it invents."
"..if I am not actively creating something, then I am probably actively destroying something (myself, a relationship, or my own peace of mind.)”
