When pandemic started I spent the first few weeks watching YouTube videos about anything.
I was unproductive and stagnant. I felt terrible. I was sucked into a rabbit hole, and I hated it. One day, when I was thinking to change my daily routine, I stumbled upon Ryan Holiday’s book, The Obstacle Is The Way. Inspired by the title itself, I asked myself these questions:
How can I use this obstacle, this pandemic, to my advantage? How can I help myself out of stagnation? How can I progress despite my situation?
I thought I must do something to keep me busy. So I decided to read books.
Today, fourteen months after that day, I've read a handful of books.
Here they are:
Being Logical by D.Q. McInerny
A Rulebook for Arguments by Anthony Weston
Thinking in Bets by Annie Duke
Ultralearning by Scott Young
Wild Mind by Nathalie Goldberg
Atomic Habits by James Clear
The Smartest Investment Book You’ll Ever Read by Daniel R. Solin
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
101 Ways That Will Change The Way You Think by Brianna West
What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Murakami
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
Vagabonding by Rolf Potts
How to Take Smart Notes by Sonke Ahrens
The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin
Quiet by Susan Cain
On the Shortness of Life by Seneca
Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
The Elements of Style by William Stunk Jr. and E.B. White
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
I’ve read these books for my own pleasure. I highlighted quotes and lines and passages I find remarkable and that I think would give me inspiration and help in the future.
I didn’t summarize each book. Instead, I just collected notes based on what’s relevant for me and my thinking.
And I'll share some of them here in my future posts.
'Till next time!
